Historic Carnival Mas Camp Celebrates 75 Years of Artistry

One of Trinidad’s most iconic mas camps, Peter Minshall’s Callaloo Company, celebrated its 75th anniversary this week with a spectacular exhibition showcasing decades of stunning Carnival costume designs.

The retrospective features over 100 pieces, including award-winning designs that revolutionized the art of mas. From traditional sailor mas to contemporary interpretations, the exhibition traces the evolution of Carnival artistry.

Founder Peter Minshall’s grandchildren now run the operation, maintaining the tradition of handcrafted costumes while incorporating modern materials, LED lighting, and sustainable fabrics.

The free exhibition runs through the end of the month at the National Museum and has already attracted thousands of visitors eager to experience Carnival history.
