Heads of state from across the Caribbean region convened in Barbados today for a landmark climate action summit, addressing the urgent environmental challenges facing island nations.
The three-day conference will address rising sea levels, hurricane preparedness, renewable energy initiatives, and coastal protection strategies. CARICOM Secretary-General emphasized the urgency of collective action.
“Caribbean nations are among the most vulnerable to climate change impacts,” he stated. “We must act now to protect our shores, our economies, and our people.”
The summit is expected to produce a unified climate action plan and secure international funding commitments exceeding $500 million for regional environmental projects.
